Ex-Fuzztones guitarist Jordan Tarlow has completely outdone himself this time. The album is called Tone-Bender and it's a far-reaching foray into the sonic textures of the past merged with production ideas and possibilities from the present...and perhaps near future. Forget pretenders to the throne and neo-psychedelic "tribute" acts, this is the real deal! A heady gothic-delic pop opera which includes Dave Vanian of punk legends The Damned and Clem (Elvis Ramone) Burke of Blondie among the gang responsible. 41 minutes and 59 seconds of acid-soaked dreamrock that will leave you dazed and confused, amazed and bemused.

But it’s no surprise that the album is so good. Tarlow has been a front-figure of the genre from his teenage years. THE FUZZTONES, THE OUTTA PLACE, THE MORLOCKS, THE VIPERS, THEE HYPNOTICS, THE PANDORAS and THE TRYFLES are just some of the influential bands he’s either formed, played in, or produced over the years. Just ask Steve Van Zandt of Bruce Springsteen’s band and HBO’s The Sopranos, who features Jordan’s music regularly on his syndicated radio show and recently at his Little Steven Underground Garage Rock festival in New York.

During a lengthy hiatus from touring, Tarlow discovered a second forté in his arsenal of musical ideas and became a highly sought after composer of television ads. Companies such as Victoria’s Secret, Revlon, Ralph Lauren, and Neutrogena enlisted him to score music for the likes of Cindy Crawford, Claudia Schiffer, Halle Berry and Penelope Cruz, leading to his ad music being dubbed “The Sound of the Super Models”.

But a creative mind can’t be locked onto one thing for too long and pretty soon Vox amps, Leslie speakers, and fuzz, LOTS of glorious fuzz, kept him awake day and night until he finally enlisted the aid of some psychedelic phriends to help him commit this frenzy to tape. The CD was mastered by golden-eared Doug Sax, the same sonic genius who blessed every Pink Floyd album, using the exact same hand-built valve EQ and limiters you hear on “Piper At The Gates of Dawn” and “Dark Side of The Moon”.

Tune in and turn on to Tone-Bender... while it’s still legal!

Doug VanQuekelberg, Custom Guitar Maker
Jordan, Just popped "TONEBENDER" in the CD player - I'm thinkin' Paul Revere & The Raiders on acid meet Sid Barrett and Link Wray. Way cool stuff, junior! It's not lost on me - slowing some stuff down and weaving the vocal voodoo in amongst the layers of clean guitar lines. Thanks for turning me on to it. I grew up in Ohio listening to my buddy's sister's Raiders, Monkees and the like albums of the late 60's. Takes me way back .... and wakes up another side of my mojo that's been nappin'.

Gonna have to get some Fuzztones now...

Massimo - Misty Lane Magazine
Your CD is real cool and I'll rave about it in the next issue of MISTY LANE. We're gonna do an interview, OK?

The Magical Storyteller
It’s huge! A psychedelic garage rockestra!
